FSA review to investigate SIPPs

Around 70 smaller SIPP firms are the subject of a thematic review by the FSA, it has been revealed today.

The regulator says it want to assess any general problems SIPP firms may be having with regulatory issues and provide feedback on the industry's progress. SIPPs were first regulated in April 2007, and the FSA says its thematic review is part of the normal process for newly regulated sectors. The FSA is visiting 70 smaller SIPP firms as part of the review, and will also be taking feedback from larger firms' relationship managers. An FSA spokesman says: "We are taking a look at firms to see how they're getting to grips with being regulated, and to identify any issues that may exist." ...
