Crawford lauds Octopus' small co's approach

OCTOPUS Opportunities fund manager, David Crawford, has stressed his fund's unique position in hunting for smaller companies that he says are missed by the larger fund houses.

Crawford pointed out that around 70pc of all quoted companies fall into his universe of companies valued below £100m. He said that the majority of the fund industry neglects these prospects, partly because of a lack of resources. Opportunities fund, which Crawford manages alongside Richard Power, has grown by around 4pc since its July launch, according to the group’s own figures. This is despite market turbulence and compares with a drop of around 10pc in the AIM market.
