Neptune boss shuns Japan mega caps

CHRIS Taylor, manager of the £6.8m Neptune Japan Opportunities fund, believes his lack of exposure to outperforming ‘mega caps' will pay off before the end of the year.

Taylor, who took on the fund two years ago, said 2006 had been ‘frustrating’ due to the market’s focus on its biggest companies, which he claimed flew in the face of data suggesting the country’s economy is well on the road to recovery. “We expect that the year to date outperformance registered by the mega cap stocks is likely to end soon as investors begin to refocus upon the significantly better earnings prospects of the mid to large cap firms. “This would be in keeping with our long held investment strategy that should benefit the share prices of those companies included within t...
