Majority of couples make joint financial decisions

Seven out of ten couples now make joint decisions about their financial affairs, suggests a survey by GMAC RFC.

Details of a new study by the mortgage lender suggest one in four women make the majority of financial decisions when in relationships, and only 7% now leave all the decisions to the men. Moreover, research suggests twice as many women as men make the essential mortgage decisions, says GMAC, however, despite knowing as much as their male counterparts, over two-thirds of women said they would still be happy to leave key decisions to their partner, as a fifth “don’t really want to get involved in the finances”.
