IFA defence union to challenge FOS judgments

A Scottish legal firm is gathering with a steering group of IFAs next month to form a Defence Union offering members expert legal representation to deal with complaints to the FOS and FSA.

Glasgow-based solicitor Alisdair Sampson of Drummond Miller, has taken up the cause of IFAs and agreed to help form a defence union to support IFAs who may feel they have a legal case to make against the FOS and its judgments. Interest in the establishment of an IFA defence union has been gathering for some time among the intermediary community, says Sampson, as financial advisers feel there is no accessible appeal to any FOS adjudication when the adviser has grounds to do so, and no means of comparing judgments.
