Scottish Widows chief becomes ABI chairman

Archie Kane, chief executive of Scottish Widows, has become chairman of the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

He succeeds Keith Satchell, who stood down yesterday after a two-year term. Satchell retired from his group chief executive role at Friends Provident in January this year. Kane became chief executive of Scottish Widows in 2003. He also holds the group executive director of insurance and investments role at Lloyds TSB and joined the bank’s board in 2000.
