With more than 7,000 firms cleared to do regulated mortgage business, the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries says the changeover has been a "success".
Some issues will need to be ironed out over the coming weeks, but overall the FSA’s figures for the number of companies holding new authorisations or “variations of permissions” is seen as “evidence of real success in engaging in the rules,” a spokesperson for the association says. ”The numbers show it is not the case we have a big problem,” the spokesperson says.
