Resources bolster FTSE gains

Strong resources sector performance has driven the FTSE forward, which closes, up 62.60points (1.15%) to 551120.

The top spot goes to Antofagasta which soared by 6.23% or 33.50p to 571.5p. Oil and gas company Petrofac gained 30.5p or 5.86% to 551p. Global resources firm BHP Billiton is up 5.62% to 1597p, while Xstrata and Ferrexpo gain 5.47% and 5.09% respectively. However, Rolls-Royce Group saw its share price fall, shedding 14.25p (3.54%) to 388.75p. Financials are lagging, with Man Group down 2.92% to 514.5p and Royal Bank of Scotland dipping 2.5% to 224p.
