Chancellor Rachel Reeves will use her Spring Forecast later today (3 March) to outline how stronger UK public finances can help the country weather potential shocks from an increasingly uncertain world.
Amid rising geopolitical tensions caused by the ongoing conflict in Iran and the broader region, the chancellor will say at the dispatch box: "This government has the right economic plan for our country…in a world that has become yet more uncertain." Reeves will emphasise the importance of "stability in the public finances, investment in infrastructure and reform to our economy", but it is expected that no major policy changes will be unveiled today.
