Advisers told 'make noise' about non-advised sales risks

A call has gone out to IFAs and financial planners to use their commercial muscle to put pressure on product providers and reform information given to consumers in non-advised sales.

Speaking at the PFS Conference earlier this week, Tom Baigrie, managing director of Baigrie Davies and founder of Lifesearch, told delegates they should use their collective power to encourage firms to issue warnings to consumers about the risks of buying financial products without advice. More specifically, Baigrie suggested additional information should be given to consumers about the fact they have no recourse for compensation should they have the wrong product for their financial circumstances because they are opting to buy a non-advised product.
