Nation is in save, not spend, mode

The 'mood to save' in February rose for the third year in a row, according to a survey from Legal & General.

The 'MoneyMood' survey of around 1,000 adults each month between September 2004 and February 2007 reveals 64% of adults in the UK were in the mood to save at the end of February 2007, compared to 56% in the same month in 2005 and 62% in 2006. It also suggests 24% of adults were in the mood to spend at the end of February 2007, compared to 32% in February 2005 and 28% in 2006. The percentage who say they have some money left over at the end of the month after paying bills and debts has held steady over three years at 58% in February 2007 and 2006 and 59% in 2005.
