Fortis Life UK parent firm reveals 'strong' H1 results

Insurance firm Fortis UK, which launched a life business in July, has announced positive first-half results for 2008.

The company says profit before tax and interest has climbed more than £24m from the same period a year ago to £43.3m, while retail commission income is also up. There has been a decrease, of 2%, in overall gross written premiums (GWPs). In July, Fortis launched Fortis Life UK, a new life business which will be initially judged on its two protection products: Your Life Plan and Real Life Cover.
