Insurers are handling more than 50,000 claims following the recent floods, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
The July floods have so far resulted in 12,000 claims for flood damaged homes, and 3,500 claims from businesses. The ABI estimates the total cost for the floods in the north and south of England at £2.5 billion. Insurers are moving homeowners into temporary accommodation, including caravans, where needed. Insurers are also moving businesses into temporary premises.
