Wrap choice about more than just tax - IFAs

Advisers are increasingly looking beyond the tax advantages alone when comparing product wrappers despite changes to the capital gains tax (CGT), Zurich research suggests.

The study also found 98% of the 707 Sesame advisers surveyed believe the features and benefits of investment wrappers are equally or more important than the tax treatment. Findings from the adviser firm also reveal, contrary to some commentators’ predictions, that the current CGT regime has not led to the demise of the investment bond. Almost three quarters of Sesame advisers surveyed use both life assurance bonds and collectives as part of their long-term investment planning toolkit.
