ABI splits protection committee in two

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is reshuffling its Protection Committee in a bid to improve the clarity and reputation of protection insurance.

The Committee will split in two forming the Protection Development Committee and the Protection Strategy Committee. The former will be responsible for short and medium-term issues with the latter taking a “longer term view”. The Development group, which will be chaired by Legal & General’s managing director, protection, Bernie Hickman, will focus on all group and individual protection products, including long term care, managing, and developing Statements of Best Practice and Industry Guidance for protection business.
