The proposed top-tier of advisers should be qualified to chartered status in line with other professions such as accounting and engineering, MPs say.
According to a study commissioned by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), 92% of MPs said advisers should be qualified to bring parity with other chartered professions. The CII says the results correspond with the findings of previous research conducted by the Institute with its members in March this year. The CII Deloitte and Touche Professionalism and Reputation report published in May advocated the concept of tiered professionalism and set out recommendations to improve professional standards.
