HMRC sheds light on pipeline PTA cases

Clients must be on risk before midnight on 5th December to benefit from tax relief on pension term assurance policies, according to HMRC.

Mick James, protection marketing manager at Standard Life, says feedback from HMRC about pipeline cases indicates clients must be on risk before midnight on 5th December to take advantage of tax relief on PTA policies. Standard Life’s definition of “on risk” is the policy must have cleared its internal systems and the policy documents issued. The provider will be contacting customers and their financial advisers who have not completed this process to give them other options, including switching to traditional life policies.
