Parents are blind to the true cost of higher education, suggests research from Prudential, as four out of ten questioned believe their children leave university with no debts.
A survey commissioned by the Pru reveals parents think their own children owe nothing after completing degree courses, even though contrasting studies suggests 76% of students have or will complete debt to complete their studies. A breakdown of the actual debts parents think their offspring acquire reveals only one in ten parents think the debt accumulated amounts to more to between £10-15,000 as almost 50% think the costs of a university education will be £5,000 still to pay after graduation, even though latest National Union of Students figures suggest graduates can expect to have debt...
