RDR: FSA dismisses mortgage read-across

The FSA says it currently sees 'no need' for a read-across of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) to the mortgage arena, but has refused to rule it out for good.

In today's RDR feedback statement, the regulator says its current review of the mortgage regime may be sufficient to establish the root causes of problems it says "continue to cause consumer detriment" in the sector. But it adds future feedback on the RDR, which is purely investments-related, may change its mind, as it appears to have done in the protection arm of the general insurance market.
