Protection specialist Pioneer reveals 2007 claims

Pioneer, the income protection provider, announced it paid 96% of all claims received in 2007, down very slightly from 96.89% in 2006.

Musculoskeletal and back injuries accounted for the most claims at 32.76% in 2007 against 30% in 2006. Operations at 14.55% and fractures 11.66% were the next largest areas of claim. A new category called Dental and Optical represented 8.09% of claims. While some claims increased from 2006 to 2007, others fell such as operations (from 16% to 14.55%) and Anxiety/Depression/Stress (from 6% to 4.68%).
