Pre-Budget Report due on 24 November

The Treasury has confirmed the Pre-Budget Report will be announced at 3.30pm on 24 November.

Chancellor Alistair Darling is expected to reveal a range of tax cuts to help stimulate the economy and prevent a major recession. The Government has already hinted it will cut taxes for individuals and small businesses to help encourage spending and boost the economy. Darling is also expected to confirm the extent to which the Government will break its own public borrowing rules in order to spend its way out of recession.
