Consumers want emotional support on CI claim - research

Nine out of ten policyholders diagnosed with a critical illness would like some form of additional practical and emotional support from a nurse or counsellor at the point of claim, suggests research by Bright Grey.

According to a survey of 100 people commissioned by protection provider Bright Grey, 92% of all respondents claimed they would find it valuable to have the support services of trained nurses and counsellors who could visit their home should they be diagnosed with a terminal or critical illness. Moreover, three quarters (74%) said they would be more inclined to buy a protection product which included such services, and perhaps even pay an average £7 extra a month to cover the cost.
