Advisers waste a month a year chasing providers

Advisers spend the equivalent of a month chasing information from product providers each year, according to research from Sesame.

The network’s latest Provider Service Index also found providers have done little to reduce this burden on IFA firms. On average, advisers spend 32 days each year chasing and checking information from product providers, Sesame found. Difficulties with obtaining information from providers means many firms need to set aside time specifically for chasing queries. Sesame’s survey found 34% of advisers keep between five and ten hours free each week in order to follow-up enquiries, while 14% find they need to spend more than ten hours per week chasing providers.
