Homeowners urged to check liability insurance

CompareTheMarket.com is urging households to check their liability insurance cover, especially if their home is seen as a place of business for external services such as cleaners and builders.

The internet comparison site says having the right level of cover will protect people from picking up a huge bill if someone accidentally hurts themselves while in their home. Jeremy Moll, an insurance expert at CompareTheMarket.com, says the majority of insurers include building and contents liability cover as standard on their insurance policies. “Typical payouts are up to £2,000,000 for personal liability and £5,000,000 for employee liability. “Personal liability payout might apply where a friend trips over a loose carpet in your home and breaks their leg, whereas employee liability...
