Schroders head of UK Middleton's private markets 'democratisation' plan

Bringing more access to advisers and retail investors

Schroders head of UK Phil Middleton wants the asset manager’s UK business to be at the forefront of private market democratisation, he told Professional Adviser.

In his first interview since he made his UK return in November 2024, succeeding former Schroders head of UK James Rainbow, Middleton shared how he wants the business to increase access to private markets. In previous research, Schroders found that more than half of advisers and wealth managers are currently investing in private markets, with a further 20% expecting to do so in the next two years.
