Professional Adviser's protection detective Kevin Carr delivers his verdict on five key developments in the protection space from the last month or so

Battle Royale The contradicting views across the market about the validity of ‘relevant life' plans that also include critical illness cover took a new turn recently. Legal & General issued a statement confirming it would not be launching a version of the product based upon guidance from HMRC, while Aviva hit back and reaffirmed its commitment remains unchanged. Aviva remain the only insurer in the market at present that offers relevant life cover with critical illness but, with so many contrasting views, it would be understandable if advisers were cautious. Verdict: Back to the lab ...
