Jules Charrington is annuity provider MGM Advantage's chief underwriter and the first female president of the Assurance Medical Underwriting Society. Here she tells Professional Adviser what's on her packed schedule.

"Being a chief underwriter brings many responsibilities and challenges, some of them unexpected. Last month I was organising a summer barbecue event for the Assurance Medical Underwriting Society (AMUS) on a boat on the Thames. This was on the night before the rain stopped and we got a summer. The society could do with a climate underwriter on board! This month I am trying to ensure that updated systems are properly integrated into MGM Advantage’s quote engine… a somewhat different task, but at least not weather reliant.
