Britain's leading investment trust provider has warned fund supermarkets are falling behind by failing to add the products to their platforms. Are their concerns justified, and how popular will ITs prove with advisers?

The criticism may have been veiled, but the inference was clear. A paper this week from J.P. Morgan Asset Management – the UK’s largest provider of investment trusts – warned that, while most wraps offer a wide variety of funds, supermarkets’ offerings were still “patchy”. “Many popular investment platforms already offer a comprehensive selection of investment trusts (ITs) as part of their service,” the report said.
