Former Competition Commission chief joins FCA

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has appointed former chief executive of the Competition Commission (CC) David Saunders as a senior adviser on competition.

Saunders will support the FCA competition department and the forthcoming Payment Services Regulator as well as contribute to addressing competition issues as part of the regulator's thematic supervision work. Prior to his role at the CC, Saunders worked as a civil servant within the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and its predecessors for 35 years. The FCA also appointed business manager Gunner Burkhart as senior adviser on wholesale and markets issues in investment banking.
