If you'd asked me a few years ago who owned the data that feeds our back office and customer relationship management (CRM) systems, I'd have instinctively said that we do. However, contractually, we don't. The third-party CRM provider does. Or, in our case, it did. Not anymore. If I were to make a prediction for what the rest of 2026 has in store, it would be that most of the larger consolidated businesses will be looking to implement their own plans to take back ownership of their data, too.
