If my inbox – and the at times tenuously linked press releases filling it up, from pre-nups to yellow gold bezel diamond rings – is to be believed, the headline grabbing news of the week is of course musician Taylor Swift and American footballer Travis Kelce’s engagement.

As my colleague, PA chief reporter and resident Swift fan, Isabel Baxter might tell you, this is a big deal. It is perhaps particularly pronounced because Swift is well known for a catalogue of breakup songs that have resonated with a fanbase said to be in the hundreds of millions. Forget ‘Wills and Kate', this could well be the marriage of the century. Taylor Swift isn't really in my wheelhouse (my cat, though, is a fan), but another fated union has also caught the nation's eye this week. So, in the spirit of 'if you can't beat them, join them' and jumping on that ‘tenuous' coming toget...
