Investors in China have had several reasons to exercise caution over the past 24 months, from the delisting of American depository receipts (ADRs), property market contagion, geopolitical rivalry with the US, and Beijing's abandonment of its strict zero-Covid policy. It's this last point, China's shift in stance on Covid and its ‘great reopening' that held hopes for the country, and wider region, at the start of the year.
