Single asset fund recommendations from advisers shoot up

Single asset funds made up about 35% of all recommendations last year

Single asset fund recommendations made by advisers are increasing and made up almost 35% of all fund recommendations last year, according to data from Defaqto.

The market intelligence company said between 1 April 2022 and 31 March 2023 single asset fund recommendations equating to a value of £12.6bn were made through its Engage software. It added this was a 47% increase in single asset fund recommendations over the last three years, up from £8.6bn for the year ending 31 March 2020. Defaqto said the statistics "challenged the industry perception that multi-asset funds form an overwhelmingly large majority of adviser recommendations".
