The year 2001 was not just a significant year for Professional Adviser. It was also the year that I left Equitable Life and started my own firm of independent financial advisers. The journey I've taken since that time reflects many in our sector, I suspect. From the perspective of those of us in charge of advice firms, overwhelming increases in regulation and administration have been the defining theme of the past 21 years.
