The IA Global sector is home to an eclectic mix of funds, but they all have one common focus, says Alex Farlow - providing investors with regional equity diversification for their portfolios
As at the end of July 2019 the sector consists of 330 funds, of which only 18 are passive. The sector is the second largest, behind the UK All Companies sector, in terms of assets under management, controlling a total of £128.7bn. To qualify for admission into this sector, a fund must hold no more than a 20% allocation to UK equities. Equity-focused funds with greater than a 20% UK exposure would generally fall into the IA Flexible Investment sector.
