90% of hacking cases occur after company security is first infiltrated via phishing emails and, says Matt Rhodes, it is only through simulating a real attack businesses will truly discover which areas need improvement

So-called ‘ransomware' attacks have been in the media spotlight once again as cyber-criminals target organisations from across the world, hijacking their data and holding companies to ransom. Exploiting weaknesses in public systems, the notorious WannaCry virus was circulated without human interaction through a harmful email attachment, instead spreading the infection once it had compromised the security of its original target.
