Clive Waller explains why this month's Schroders UK Platform Awards is introducing a category to recognise the role of platforms partnering with discretionary managers

This month's Schroders UK Platform Awards will see the presentation of a new category - ‘Leading platform for model portfolio services' - sponsored by the event's data partners, FE. The running of model portfolios has been a central part of most adviser propositions since the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) and it is essential advisers choose a platform that can meet their clients needs in this regard. As recently as 2008, according to CWC Research, some 90% of advisers - either "sometimes" or "always" - made their own fund selection decisions. In 2017, that figure is below 40%. In 2...
