Having been involved with some of the consultation processes around pensions over recent years, I have nothing but admiration for many of the reforms now taking place. For many of the long overdue decisions - the single-tier state pension and auto-enrolment in particular - we have Steve Webb to thank. Reining in fees is another worthy achievement, so too enabling many older women to have a decent pension. The freeing up of the pensions market and removal of the annuity straitjacket also has his stamp on it. The timing, however, a month before the general election, is political. ...
