I will begin with an image that will haunt you: it is 12.30 on a Saturday evening and I find myself dancing to ‘Don't stop me now' by Queen with various colleagues and 250 secured loan brokers.

Now I have obviously been in this sort of situation before when I used to be a journalist, but no-one told me it was going to be like this when they said come and join a trade association. But, I must confess, this is not your typical trade association gathering. You will know that, earlier this year, the Association of Finance Brokers (AFB) was established under the Aifa umbrella, coming out of its previous guise, the Corporation of Finance Brokers (CFB).
