The nation was rightly horrified when the recent sprinkling of snow brought chaos to the travel network and in doing so cost the British economy millions of pounds.
Unexpected events always have unforeseen consequences. Though it could be argued that snow could be quite reasonably be expected to fall in winter, an event such as the huge Buncefield fire – Europe’s biggest – meant disaster for numerous businesses. Of course, we would hope that most, if not all of the affected firms, were insured making the financial ‘hit’ a little easier to bear.
