Taking a pragmatic approach in 2008

It may sometimes be a little chaotic, but spending time with family and friends over Christmas is always wonderful. Over and above the generosity, thoughtfulness and good cheer that we associate with Christmas, spending time with family and friends also puts a wonderful perspective on things.

Apart from being our nearest and dearest, these are also the people that keep us grounded and anyone telling tall tales or exaggerating past achievements is soon brought back down to earth. Despite being a fantastical time of year, it is this dose of reality that is so potent at Christmas time and something we could do with more of during the year. In the run up to Christmas how many reports were there about retailers suffering a terrible downturn in trading?
