Inheritance tax receipts for May were £1.4bn, some £37m lower than the same period last year, latest official figures show.
Receipts for April were also lower at £715m, down £65m on the previous year. Quilter tax and financial planning expert Shaun Moore highlighted that while May's numbers marked another month of lower receipts compared to last year's record total, the long-term prospects for IHT were clear.
