Critical illness comparison service CIExpert has released the second edition of its annual research into the UK protection insurance market, finding that more than half of Gen Z (54%) and Millennials (55%) were open to paying more for advanced added value services.

This included access to advanced tumour profiling and personalised cancer treatment; clinical trial support; and specialist treatment only available oversees. The Critical Thinking 2026 report comprised of views of advisers and 10,000 consumers. The top services all customers would find most valuable as part of an income protection (IP) policy included: physiotherapy or rehabilitation after illness or injury (19%), annual health checks (18%) and rehabilitation services to recover (16%).
