Luke Coleman has been convicted and fined in the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) first prosecution under the Data Protection Act.
Based in Taunton and aged 30, Coleman pleaded guilty to unlawfully obtaining and the subsequent disclosure of personal data in breach of the Data Protection Act. He was employed by Virgin Media O2 and sold confidential customer data to family friend Nicholas Harper for use in a boiler room fraud, the FCA investigation found. It is understood that there is a link between the data that was sold by Coleman and the cryptocurrency scam run by Raymondip Bedi and Patrick Mavanga.
