Scaling is about fixing workflows, not just adding clients and assets

Financial planning firms are dealing with capacity challenges when looking to scale their business.

Speaking at the CISI Financial Planning Conference 2025, Dimensional Fund Advisors head of UK & Ireland Advisor Group and vice president David Jones said too many businesses rush to scale without first identifying whether they face a growth problem or a capacity problem. "If you get really successful on the growth side, it affects capacity," he told delegates. "We can serve way more people if we fix the capacity problem. It's not just about scaling individual businesses, it's about how we scale financial planning, how do we bring this to people who don't even know they need it?" Jones...
