Industry welcomes 'blockbuster' Pension Schemes Bill

Bill hailed as a ‘once in a generation’ opportunity for workplace pensions

The pensions industry has widely welcomed the introduction of the Pension Schemes Bill, which is set to be laid in parliament today (5 June).

The bill, which will have its first reading in the House of Commons today, will introduce a series of measures for defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) schemes, as well as the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The Pensions Regulator CEO Nausicaa Delfas said the bill was a "once in a generation opportunity" to address "unfinished business" in the UK pensions system.
