Inflation drives 'modest' rises in PLSA's Retirement Living Standards

Majority of pre-retirees expect to live with someone else in retirement

The impact of inflation has driven “modest” increases to the moderate and comfortable Retirement Living Standards (RLS), the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) has said.

In the latest update to its RLS, published today (3 June), the pensions trade body said the rises in the moderate and comfortable RLS reflected the impact of inflation across numerous expenditure categories. The PLSA noted that the cost of the moderate RLS for a one-person household increased from £31,300 to £31,700 per year, while for a two-person household, the cost increased from £43,100 to £43,900 per year.
