Investment performance has an impact but not most critical factor in advice

Nearly half (47%) of financial advisers believe investment performance is far from the most critical factor in satisfying clients, according to Royal London.

The provider's 2024 Meaning of Value report found that although advisers believe investment performance has "some impact" on client satisfaction, they say it is far from "the most important thing" in financial advice. Nearly a third (29%) of advisers said investment performance has a big impact on customer perception of value, whilst 17% said it has a small impact. One adviser said that investment performance should not matter when demonstrating the value of advice, but it does.
