Bim Afolami takes over in Rish Sunak's major reshuffle

Andrew Griffith has been replaced as City minister after just over a year in the role, as part of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s reshuffle.

Bim Afolami, former corporate lawyer at Freshfield Bruckhaus Derringer and HSBC executive within restructuring and strategy, has taken on the role. He was elected as MP for Hitchin and Harpenden in 2017. Griffith was promoted to financial secretary to the Treasury under the government of Liz Truss, before being moved to economic secretary to the Treasury by Sunak on 27 October last year. Griffith's new role is minister of state for science, research and innovation, replacing MP George Freeman.
