Retirement savings a cause of concern for most women over 50

Men in their 50s have around £17,000 more saved for retirement

Two-thirds (66%) of women aged between 50 and 59 are unsure of how much they have saved for retirement, research shows.

TPT Retirement Solutions' survey of more than 2,000 people aged between 50 and 59 in employment found 60% of women in this age group are worried they are not saving enough for retirement. It also found just over half (51%) of men in that age group did not know how much they had saved for retirement, with the average man having saved £17,014 more than the average women in the same age group. For almost three-quarters (71%) of women in their 50s, rising energy bills presented a significant barrier to pension saving, while two-thirds (66%) said they struggled with increasing food costs, ...
